NATO ! Can we really trust you?
UNITED WE SAY, DIVIDED WE STAND !!
NATO the apex organization that we know since our childhood through our books and American movies, used to be the comfort name that made us feel that there are some good people around who will help us when in need , sadly this long reigning myth of mine got slammed down on 24th Feb 2022 . when a modern day developed nation like Russia decided to run down a nation like Ukraine.
But who are the real culprit here? As of now I know from the news that around 200 Ukrainian have lost their lives but for what? what I can see from my part of world as a neutral party is that its just a tussle of power standoff between the west and the Grizzley Bear. All problems started with the closeness of the Ukraine a former part of soviet state and NATO the flag bearer of Safety for its allies. But where this closeness actually lead to is Ukraine getting possibly Erased from the map by an aggressive Russian retaliation.
Is this reaction of Russia justified? on moral and humanitarian grounds it is not obviously. But when I keep myself in Russian boots and think about the sovereignty and border security it will always make me feel troubled, having a military power near my gates controlled by a group whose priority won’t be to safeguard my Interests but theirs, that to from their own respective countries in my continent. In the current world order it should be a free choice to opt in or out of this arrangement and not a compulsion agreement to be reached by bullying weak countries and manipulating them. why manipulation I said here is because Ukraine once used to be a nuclear capable state as it inherited nukes and weapons from the soviet when it was forged out of the soviet union. Now I am giving you an example of why one should not be very excited for anything, Ukraine’s NATO alliance hungry diplomats thought it would be a great Idea to just let go of the 2000 nuclear warhead along with intercontinental ballistic missiles and strategic bombers that was with them until 1991 according to ACA, which they let go off in a move to de-nuclearise Ukraine under the Budapest memorandum of 1994 where US and UK the NATO members assured it of security. What we are seeing out of it today is that both these nations as sitting at the comfort of their couches putting out sanctions when the Ukrainian people are left alone to fight for their existence on blood stained streets of Ukraine. The highly motivated Diplomacy for NATO membership cost Ukraine a real line of defence as Russia might have feared those nukes more than these sanctions.
Now coming to the conclusion this whole episode, I strongly feel that NATO is responsible equally along with Russia for this blood bath on Ukrainian streets, Ukrainian people lost a lot just to gain some west friendship, a friendship is a two way game, If NATO is not standing when Ukraine is facing a possible wipe out for real today, why should we believe it will stand for Ukraine in the future? how can they believe its not just false promises to get Ukraine to host NATO troops near Russia so that the NATO countries can feel safe from the Grizzley Bear.
